School Resource Officers

About the Program
The Aurora Police Department and the Aurora City Schools implemented their 1st School Resource Officer Program on August 25, 2010. Officer Michelle Ice and Officer Chris Reiter are assigned to the position and have worked diligently with others leading to its acceptance and success.

Primary responsibilities include the enforcement of laws, assessing and maintaining building security, and assisting with a variety of programs for students. They also serve as a liaison between the police department and school district, ensuring an efficient flow of information between the 2 organizations. Officer Ice and Officer Reiter have trained all faculty, staff, and students in ALICE, a program developed to teach people how to respond to actively evolving threatening situations.
