About the Tip Line
The Aurora Police Department exists to develop and maintain a safe and peaceful community. Our officers try to patrol the city streets 24/7, but still need your help.
The police tip line was initiated to provide concerned citizens with an anonymous way to report suspicious activity without fear of the perpetrator finding out. Reporting parties should leave a very detailed message describing suspicious behavior. If an incident requires immediate attention, call the Aurora Police Communications Center directly at 330-562-8181 to report your concern. Dial 9-1-1 in an emergency.
Aurora police also accept tips through a smartphone app tip line. The technology provides anyone with an Apple of Android smart phone the ability to download the app and send anonymous tips by text message.
There are two easy ways to submit a tip: the easiest is downloading the app in the app store, then searching "auroraoh.tips," and the second is by texting "57" followed by the tip to 847411. The app icon is the "A" with the Aurora Greenmen logo displayed below. Tips will be routed to dedicated cell phones where police can continue to communicate with the tipster anonymously. The line is not monitored twenty-four hours a day. Therefore, residents should still utilize 911 or the police non-emergency line when reporting crimes in progress or other situations that require immediate attention by police the tip line is just another tool for residents to use to anonymously report things they may not feel comfortable talking to an officer about. The tips received will be investigated based on level of emergency. Residents are encouraged to call the police or 911 in emergency situations.
