Constellation NewEnergy Inc.
As a result of First Energy Solutions Chapter 11 Bankruptcy, Constellation NewEnergy, Inc. has agreed to provide electric services through the city's aggregate program under the same terms and conditions. The program remains in effect until April 2021 at the rate of 5.12 cents/kwh.
Once in the program there is a $25 early termination fee should you want to terminate this program.
Frequently Asked Questions
How is my community able to choose a certified electric generation supplier on my behalf?
Residents voted to allow the community to contract for an electric generation supplier on their behalf.
If I join this program, who will deliver my power, read my meter and respond to emergencies, such as power outages?
Your electric utility will be responsible for the delivery of power to your home or business. Since your electric utility still owns the wires and poles that deliver power to you, it will continue to read your meter and restore power after an outage.
Is your price for residential power fixed, or does it vary?
In this program, the discount you will receive each month does not change. The rate will stay the same each month for a 3-year term ending April 2021.
Can I opt out of the program at a later date? Yes, but you will be subject to the early termination fee from Constellation NewEnergy, Inc. if you cancel for any other reason but moving. However, you will be sent a notice at least every 3 years asking if you wish to remain in the program. At that point, you may opt out at no cost.
If I join the aggregation, can I stay on budget billing?
Yes, you can remain on budget billing; however, only your charges from the utility will continue to be budgeted. Your charges from Constellation NewEnergy, Inc. will not be budgeted - you pay the full amount each month.
