Volunteers in Parks Patrol

The purpose of the City of Aurora Volunteers in Parks (VIP) program is to support the City of Aurora in the protection and stewardship of natural resources and recreational opportunities in the City of Aurora. Park volunteers provide users with information on park use and safety, communicate information about park conditions to City of Aurora parks staff, assist with development and implementation of park projects, and foster public interaction.

VIP Patrol Members
VIP Patrol members aid both the City of Aurora Parks and Police staff by providing visitor services through their presence on the trails. VIP Patrol members give information to users, offer maintenance, assist with basic first aid, alert staff of potential hazards or problems and relay visitor comments and concerns.

VIP members are the “eyes and ears” of the parks and trails. They are NOT law enforcement officials. They should educate park users, but if there is a confrontation, they should report rather than solve the problem.

To become part of the VIP Patrol program, contact the Parks and Recreation Director.
