General Information

The Architectural Board of Review, in order to protect and preserve the value, appearance and character of the buildings and related structures in the City, examines plans submitted to the Building Department for conformity with its established architectural guidelines and applicable Codified Ordinances of the City.

A representative must be present at the meeting for the project to be considered.

Meeting Schedule and Representation
The Architectural Board typically meets once a month, on the fourth Thursday of the month. Plans must be submitted to the Building Department at least ten days prior to the meeting date to be included in that meeting. All projects on the agenda must have a representatiave present at the meeting to be considered. Please call the Building Department to get the current monthly schedule of meetings and deadlines.

Plans Subject to Review
Plans for all new buildings, additions, renovations that include exterior work, signs, sheds over 150 square feet, and other accessory structures are all reviewed by the Architectural Board of Review. The design and materials used must be approved by the Board before a building permit can be issued.

Guidelines and Standards
On a periodic basis, the Architectural Board establishes specific guidelines which provide precise standards to further their charged duty to protect the architectural integrity of the building stock of the City.
