About Our Department
The Aurora Police Department exists to develop and maintain a safe and peaceful community by protecting constitutional rights, enforcing state laws and local ordinances and providing professional police services with fairness and integrity.
The Aurora Police Department is comprised of a variety sworn and non-sworn personnel.

ADMINISTRATION
The Aurora Police Department administration consists of the Chief of Police and
Lieutenant.
DETECTIVES
The Aurora Police Department detective bureau conducts major and complex
criminal investigations, responds to major crime scenes, provides support to the
road patrol, and manages evidence and property.
DISPATCH
The Aurora Police Department dispatch center dispatches around-the-clock for
police, fire, and rescue services.
DRUG ABUSE RESISTANCE EDUCATION (DARE)
The Aurora Police Department's DARE program has been helping children to raise
their self-esteem and say "NO" to drugs.
JUVENILE OFFICER
The Aurora Police Department's Juvenile Officer concentrates on matters
concerning unruly and delinquent minors.
PATROL
The Aurora Police Department patrol division provides twenty-four hour response
to incidents and calls for service. When not responding, the patrol proactively
seeks unusual and illegal activity.
RECORDS
The Aurora Police Department records division manages the flow of information
gathered by the department. A full-time records supervisor and part-time clerk
manage information dissemination to criminal justice agencies, courts, insurance
companies and other corporate concerns, and the public.
SPECIAL SERVICES
The Aurora Police Department provides additional services to deal with criminal justice, public safety, and law enforcement issues to enhance the quality of life for those who work, visit, and live in Aurora.
