Jaws youth wrestling is available for children in kindergarten to 6th grade. Youth wrestlers practice a required 2 nights a weeks (with an optional third night) and compete on Saturdays and Sundays.
The Northeast Ohio Youth Wrestling League competes on Sundays. Other members of the league include:
Each school hosts 1 Sunday competition per season. Each Sunday has a Varsity Dual Meet Competition and All-Star Competition (the All-Stars are those not on the Varsity - comparable to JV’s - renamed - and all of them compete weekly).
All Stars Tournament
At seasons end the All-Stars have a culminating tournament. The Varsity has their Conference Tournament with the top 5 in each weight class qualifying for a District.
At the District, the top 4 qualify for the State meet. The State meet is held every year at Akron Firestone High School. In addition to the above, there are some independent competition through the season. Post regular season, our young people are encouraged to continue to practice for individual post season tournaments, such as the Monster Tournament, as well as yet, another potential state tournament. Most coaches are volunteers with the exception of some of our paid coaches that periodically attend and contribute to the activities.
