The Aurora Police Department and the Aurora City Schools implemented their 1st School Resource Officer Program on August 25, 2010. Officer Michelle Ice is assigned to the position and has worked diligently with others leading to its acceptance.
Primary responsibilities include the enforcement of laws, assessing and maintaining building security, and assisting with a variety of programs for students. She also serves as a liaison between the police department and school district, ensuring an efficient flow of information between the 2 organizations. Officer Ice has trained all faculty, staff, and students in ALICE, a program developed to teach people how to respond to actively evolving threatening situations.
