Commemorative Program

Program Overview

The City of Aurora Commemorative Program is intended to provide opportunities throughout the city parks for community members to remember and honor loved ones or commemorate an individual or group. These opportunities include a Commemorative Bench or Commemorative Tree.

Interested individuals should complete the Commemorative Bench Request Form or contact our office for more information.
Commemorative Bench
The cost to dedicate a bench with commemorative plaque is $1000. Benches are 6' long and made of recycled plastic. A 3" by 6" bronze plaque denotes information regarding the dedication. Our staff will identify the best location for bench placement. Some examples include:
  • Aurora Wetlands
  • Kiwanis-Moore Park
  • Moebius Nature Center
  • Paddock River Preserve
  • Picnic Lake Park
  • Liz Strahan Park
  • Sheldon Park
  • Sunny Lake Park
Once dedicated, the bench becomes the property of the City of Aurora.

Commemorative Tree

The cost to dedicate a tree is $600. This includes the tree and a personalized commemorative plaque. A dedicated tree becomes the property of the City of Aurora, and City staff will be responsible for maintenance.

Our staff will work with you to identify tree species and the best location for planting. Please note we cannot guarantee any specific tree species or location, but we will consider requests.
Trees will be planted either in Fall or Spring. Planting date cannot be guaranteed and is dependent on factors including weather and availability. Our staff will discuss a potential range of planting dates at the time a tree dedication order is placed. Commemorative Program Tree Request Form
