The City of Aurora Water Department will be flushing the waterlines for the Portage area (generally the southeast section of the city), Thursday, April 22, 2021 and the Cleveland water area (generally north of Lena Drive and west of the industrial area) beginning Monday, May 3, 2021 through Friday, May 21, 2021. The purpose of this flushing is to improve carrying capacity and water quality, which will remove settled substances, and discolored or stale water.
Flushing will take place between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Customers may experience intermittent pressure fluctuations and a temporary condition of discolored water. If discoloration occurs, customers should NOT allow their water to run. This will not clear discoloration. The iron in the water main needs time to settle. Water clarity will return. Do NOT wash whites if water is discolored. Discolored water will dissipate within 1 or 2 days but is safe for bathing, drinking and food preparation.
